The Holistic Approach
The word holistic means treating the whole person, not just the presenting condition but also all conditions that may not appear; looking at everything about the person: their job, their home life, diet, exercise regime, sleep patterns, etc.
Complementary or natural therapies aim to keep people in a balanced state, helping to prevent the onset of disease or illness. General Practitioners are overworked and do not have the time to spend giving preventative advice. However, more and more are now referring complementary therapies to their patients.
